This is how I get to know any product, and determine whether or not it will actually work for my needs. That’s why this review – like most of my others – is based entirely on my experience using the monitor on real world sets. Often what looks good or bad on paper doesn’t really correlate to the real world experience. Technical benchmarks are of course important, but so is subjective experience in the field. There are thousands of camera/gear review websites and YouTube channels that serve that purpose quite well. I’ve been quite impressed with it (especially given the $299 price tag), so thought I would share this short review to unpack my findings.Īs a rule, I don’t review any product based on technical specs alone. I recently picked up a 5.2” Atomos Shinobi Monitor to use as part of my run and gun filmmaking kit.
